When a condition becomes serious enough, or when we finally realize what the condition is, steps must be taken. Such was the case with Old Stoney's left rear. After months of trying to fix the noise coming from the brakes it became obvious that the problem was deeper. It was the axle bearing. The jacklegs who had replaced the seals had packed the bearing on the right side but not on the left. If you want something done right, etc. Sometimes a willingness to take pains in general is more important than knowing what you're doing in specific.
